Free Pietje 🇵🇸 🍉<p>I realize no one gives a shit about facts, but Jack <a href="https://x0f.org/tags/Dorsey" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Dorsey</span></a> became a billionaire when <a href="https://x0f.org/tags/Twitter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Twitter</span></a> got listed on the stock exchange ('went public').</p><p>Twitter became a Nazi platform when <a href="https://x0f.org/tags/Musk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Musk</span></a> made Twitter private again (by buying it from the shareholders).</p><p>So no, Dorsey did NOT become a billionaire by selling to Musk.</p><p>FWIW: You can still not like him or have a problem with billionaires in general. But if you're going to make a fuss, you could base it on actual facts.<br>For ethical reasons.</p>

They had to fight <a href="https://mastodon.circle.lt/tags/Dorsey" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Dorsey</span></a> for every inch of content moderation, and, unlike their counterparts at <a href="https://mastodon.circle.lt/tags/Facebook" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Facebook</span></a>, they were able to stay in the fight and make progress for another two years. They got harassed and targeted for it, yet they kept pushing to make Twitter safer. 🫡</p>
Dmitry Borodaenko<p>I don't know how much of <a href="https://mastodon.circle.lt/tags/Twitter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Twitter</span></a>'s egalitarian corporate culture came from <a href="https://mastodon.circle.lt/tags/Dorsey" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Dorsey</span></a> vs other founders and early employees, but in 2021 it worked quite well. If anything, it was less dysfunctional than typical for companies with micromanager despots at the helm.</p><p>In the end, I think this bothered <a href="https://mastodon.circle.lt/tags/Jack" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Jack</span></a> more than anything. What else can explain how he refused to lead the company, yet viciously fought for control over it, and in the end would rather burn it down than let it succeed without him?</p>

Oof.</p><p>I was there in 2021-2022, but there was a lot going on that I only suspected, and even more that I had no idea about and that in retrospect explains a lot.</p><p>For example, <a href="https://mastodon.circle.lt/tags/Dorsey" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Dorsey</span></a> being an absentee CEO was very obvious from before I even finished onboarding. But based on what I learned about him from <a href="https://mastodon.circle.lt/tags/CharacterLimit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CharacterLimit</span></a>, it was a good thing.</p>
